Amy’s update on mood and sleep!

12/9/09

I have been on my neurotransmitter supplements for approximately two weeks now. This means that I’ve completed phase one and will be moving into phase two where I go from increasing my specific Seratonin levels (relaxing myself) to boosting my dopamine, norepinephrine and epinephrine levels (re-energizing myself).

At this point, I am sleeping like a baby and have enough energy to get through my day without a nap, unless I work a 12 hour shift. I have not had any nausea, which can be a minor side effect of supplements that increase serotonin. And, darn it, I like myself better J

I will admit that this is a lot of “pill popping” for me. I’m usually the girl who needs my one a day chewable so I don’t have to take a hand full of pills. But, I have noticed a big enough difference that I now understand why the high quality vitamin supplements/amino acid supplements are better utilized by the body. So, I will keep my 4x per day pill case packed in my purse for now with the expectation that I can reduce the number of supplements, once my body is re-built to normal levels and only needs a small daily tweak to keep it going optimally. After all, Rome wasn’t built in a day, and it took me a long time to run my body down this way.

Oh, by the way, I also started a low dose of natural dessicated thyroid and testosterone at the same time I started my amino acid supplements. There could be some increased energy from those supplements as well. I will update you on my progress again next week. Really hoping that the Dopamine excitatory boosting amino acid supplements don’t mess with all this wonderful sleep I’ve been getting because my 8 year old son tells me that I look “more pretty.” I’m guessing that’s due to more beauty rest LOL.
